I had been a pastor’s wife for twenty-four years when I heard and responded to God’s specific call to me for ministry. Many of the women who shaped my life were married to ministers, but it was not until I was in my forties when I first met a female pastor or minister.
You have to hear a call before you can answer a call. By the time I finally heard God calling me, I honestly thought it was too late to respond. I am so grateful for the people who supported me and assured me that it was not.
I give to Baptist Women in Ministry, praying that little girls and young women will be encouraged to listen for and respond to God’s call much sooner than I did. I also give so that older women might take the risk to follow God’s call as soon as they hear it.
