‘Tis the season: job-search time!

Soon-to-be college and seminary graduates are busy researching openings, sending resumes, and hopefully talking to search committees. For those of us who have been there, we know that searching for a ministry position can become a full-time job. Identifying churches, organizations, or institutions that might be a good fit for you is stressful, and even discovering what positions are open can sometimes be stressful. This is where Baptist Women in Ministry steps in with some help. Each month BWIM sends out a list of current openings in its enewsletter. If you do not receive the enewsletter, subscribe here.

Building a good resume, successfully navigating the interview process, and negotiating salary and benefits are all also stressful. BWIM’s website has several helpful resources, including sample resumes, that will assist as you put together the strongest resume possible. The website also has potential questions to be asked by both candidates and church committees. Finally, tips for negotiating are available. Lots of good information – all in one place.

New to our website are registration forms for both candidates and churches. If you are in search mode and would like to share your resume with BWIM, now there is a formal (and easy) process. If your church is in search mode, now there is a formal (and easy) way to share job descriptions and expectations. This new structure will help the BWIM staff be more attentive and intentional in working with all involved in ministry searches.

As you prepare to look for a new ministry position or a new minister for your congregation, Baptist Women in Ministry is a good source of information, ideas, connections, and assistance, and we hope you will use BWIM as a resource in your search.
