Waco, TX (February 24, 2026) — Baptist Women in Ministry (BWIM), a nationwide organization founded in 1983, announces that six previously existing state BWIM groups have merged with BWIM to become official chapters of the nationwide organization.
The following six state BWIM groups are now operating as official chapters of BWIM national:
Arkansas
Kentucky
Louisiana
Mississippi
South Carolina
Tennessee
This new model of collaboration emerged from conversations and discernment between national BWIM leadership and state leaders. As official ministries of BWIM national, BWIM state chapters will be guided by BWIM’s mission, vision, strategic plan, and values. State chapters will receive support from BWIM’s staff for volunteer leadership, logistics, communication, and more, as well as funding for activities.
Other similar pre-existing state BWIM groups will continue to operate autonomously, in collegial cooperation with the national BWIM. The state groups that will continue separate operations are: BWIM Georgia, BWIM North Carolina, Texas BWIM, and Virginia BWIM, all of which have their own 501(c)3 organizations, as well as the newly formed BWIM Florida.
“We are truly thankful for all of the leaders who discussed, collaborated, and provided input to help clarify how BWIM national relates to other BWIM groups. Many of the states have had organizations faithfully doing the work of supporting and advocating for women in ministry for decades, and it will continue to take all of us working together to see our vision of women thriving as they minister and lead among Baptists become a reality,” commented Executive Director Meredith Stone.
BWIM invites individuals, congregations, and ministry partners to learn more about its state chapters and explore ways to get connected.
